Sound Demos
What does CRAFTsynth 2.0 sound like?

Engine Power
Two WAVE groups with 4 oscillators each provide deep hands-on control over the sound and sweep smoothly through their chosen wave banks. Process and cross modulate these waveforms with 1 of 16 oscillator modifiers including Frequency / Phase Modulation, Hard / Window Sync, Ring / Amp Modulation, Derez / Bitcrush, Wavefolders and Waveshapers.
The state-variable 2-pole filter morphs from low pass through to band pass and through to high pass. With its resonance feature it picks out rich harmonics at high resonance levels. Three dedicated envelopes for the filter, amp and modulation give excessive control of the dynamics and expression. The available 2 LFOs can be synced to internal or external tempo to modulate oscillators, filters and other crucial elements of the synthesis engine. The second LFO syncs also to a division of the fundamental frequency of the played notes for both brutal and subtle modulation of the sound.
Performance made easy
CRAFTsynth 2.0 has an unmistakeably simple modulation matrix that allows users to quickly and easily create complex modulation routings to evolve the sound. This coupled with the Arp-Seq, playing and tweaking the synthesiser incredibly intuitive and rewarding. On-board Scales are a powerful tool to boost creativity and with the an array of endless encoders musicians control and tweak sounds with ease.

Stand Out With Effects
Built-in distortion (waveshaping overdrive) and delay effects add character and depth to the signal. The distortion generates interesting overtone textures from subtitle to heavy overdrive.
The delay effect injects expressive complexity from short slap-backs and room-style reverb sounds to long overlaying or psychedelic echoes. To create chorusing and other time-based effects the delay can be modulated. Internal or external sync generate rhythmic interaction with the tempo of a track.
Open To All Environments
CRAFTsynth 2.0 has a comprehensive set of connections to power and control the synth using USB, monitor with headphones or using the dedicated line output, sync with external gear using the full-size MIDI in and out or the 3.5 mm Sync in or outputs.
Expanding the sound of CRAFTsynth 2.0 is possible by polychaining up to 4 units for a total of 4 voices and 32 oscillators.

From the press
MusicTech – “The CRAFTsynth 2.0 is something of a surprise. Monophonic wavetable synths are a little thin on the ground, but when you consider that you get all this functionality, along with inbuilt backend effects in the shape of distortion and delay, it’s a very tidy package made all the more powerful by the editor.
It’s a sign of what a useful bit of kit this is that I have already started to consider where I might use it, either in a live environment, or residing firmly on my desk, hardwired into my USB port.”
Telekom Electronic Beats (Stimming) – “You see, there is a lot of power in there. In the lower range especially, so, the ability to build interesting and very modern sounding basses, oh, and very UK sounding basses is incredible in this synth. It’s really, really…. Incredible.”
Ask.Audio – “Despite its small size and crazy portability it’s a powerful and great-sounding synth with more features and complexity – should you want them – than meet the eye. For those willing to delve deeper into its workings via the software app, it offers a wealth of sound design opportunities as well. And you can’t say fairer than that. At this price point it’s almost an impulse purchase and yet it’s so much more than that. Check out CRAFTsynth 2 and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.”
Perfect Circuit – “A monophonic wavetable synthesizer with eight oscillators per voice, the CRAFTsynth 2.0 is leagues ahead of its older sibling, as well as everything else in its price range.”

Please update your CRAFTsynth 2.0 via the standalone MODALapp
New Features:
- MIDI Breath Control (CC 2) messages can now be mapped to either Modulation Wheel, Aftertouch, or Expression Pedal modulation destinations. Use the new global setting available on MODALapp to configure this.
Fixes:
- Fixed issue when using an external MIDI source with the ‘Window Amp Sync’ Osc Modifier, where MIDI messages will appear broken and cause erratic behaviour.
- Fixed Auto-Glide behaviour
- Fixed issue where the previously set MIDI Pitch Bend Range setting value wouldn’t be applied on device power on
- Fixed issue where holding multiple keyboard touch pads whilst changing the keyboard scale could cause hanging notes
New Features:
- Arp Latch Mode – This functions as the classic arp hold feature. Hold the ‘Sustain’ touch pad combo (+ and -) for one second when turning on sustain to enable Arp Latch Mode, turning off sustain will clear the latch mode.
- Global Tune setting
- MIDI-in Octave global setting – a new setting for allowing the keyboard octave parameter to also affect MIDI-in notes
- Arp Out setting – a new setting for disabling the arp from sending notes to the MIDI-out
- MIDI local setting – a new setting for disabling the internal keyboard from controlling the internal voice engine
Improvements:
- Clock Source is now selectable from the device – hold PRESET + LFO1 for 3 seconds and then use the key touch pads to select the source (1-2 = internal, 3-4 = MIDI, 5-6 = Sync-in, 7-8 = Auto)
- MIDI message merging – if MIDI aftertouch, pitch bend, modulation wheel or expression pedal messages are being received from both USB MIDI and DIN MIDI simultaneously these messages are now merged to prevent each source ‘fighting’ for control of the voice engine.
- Reseting of MIDI-in modulation values when loading / initing a patch (to prevent an issue where the device may need to be power-cycled if a MIDI controller is disconnected whilst sending modulation messages)
- The device now responds to MIDI CC 123 (‘All Notes Off’) as per the MIDI specification
- The ‘Randomise Patch’ function now uses a SysEx message instead of CC 121. CC 121 (‘Reset All Controllers’) has been implemented as per the MIDI specification – resets control values for mod wheel, expression pedal, sustain pedal, aftertouch and pitch bend. This improves compatibility with external MIDI software / hardware that transmits CC 121 for its intended purpose.
Fixes:
- Fixed issue where sustain wasn’t being reset on patch changes
- Fixed issue where setting the MIDI channel on the device wouldn’t update the value on MODALapp
- Fixed issue where changing the MIDI channel on MODALapp wouldn’t update the LEDs on device if currently in MIDI channel edit mode
- Fixed issue where MIDI-synced LFOs would take 2 beats to sync when MIDI clock messages are first being received (requires MIDI start to be sent as well)
- Fixed issue where the internal clock wasn’t being set to the internal tempo when falling back from an external MIDI or Sync-in clock source
- Fixed potential issue when sending the device a very large stream of MIDI notes
- Fixed issue where enabling any of the MIDI DIN in filters could result in aftertouch from the DIN-in not being processed
- Now converting poly aftertouch to channel aftertouch where this was previously not handled
- Fixed issue where exiting arp pattern edit mode whilst holding a note caused stuck notes
- Fixed issue where it was possible to get MIDI note loops when programming the arp, causing the arp programming to not function correctly
- Fixed issue where sending MIDI CC 120 (‘All Sound Off’) may result in stuck notes in the arp
- Fixed patch data sync issues in polychain mode (if going into polychain mode when DIN sysex filter was on)
- DSP fixes
